About our Signature Programs

Across the country, thousands of trained NAMI volunteers bring peer-led programs to a wide variety of community settings, from churches to schools to NAMI Affiliates. With the unique understanding of people with lived experience, these education classes and support groups provide outstanding free education, skills training and support. 


Educational Classes

NAMI Basics is a class for parents and other family caregivers of children and adolescents who have wither been diagnosed with a mental health condition or who are experiencing symptoms but have not yet been diagnosed.

BASES & FUNDAMENTOS (NAMI Basics in Spanish)

  El programa de Bases y Fundamentos es un curso de educación de 6 semanas. Fue desarrollado específicamente para los padres & otros miembros de familias y cuidadores de niños/adolescentes que han sido diagnosticados con una grave enfermedad mental. Los niños/adolescentes pueden estar experimentando síntomas de una grave enfermedad mental sin todavía estar diagnosticados. Este es un curso GRATIS & es necesario inscribirse.

NAMI Family-to-Family is a class for families, partners and friends of individuals with mental illness. The course is designed to facilitate a better understanding of mental illness, increase coping skills and empower participants to become advocates for their family members.

NAMI Familia-a-Familia es un programa para la familia que le ayudará a romper con la desesperación y el aislamiento, a través de comprender y recibir apoyo para personas que tienen un miembro de familia que sufre de: Depresión Severa Trastorno Bipolar (También conocido como Depresión Mániaca)  Esquizofrenia Trastorno Esquizo-Afectivo  Ansiedad y Pánico Trastorno Obsesivo y Compulsivo Diagnóstico Doble (Abuso de sustancias y enfermedad mental)

NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a 10 week recovery education course open to anyone experiencing a mental health challenge. The course is designed to encourage growth, healing, and recovery among participants. FREE class. Registration required.

Support Groups

FREE ; NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED

 

**Note: Support groups are not open to nursing students for observation.

Please attend our monthly General Meetings instead**

 NAMI Connection is a weekly support group for people living with a mental health condition. It is facilitated by peers living in recovery. Group members share experiences, coping strategies and techniques for maintaining wellness and offers mutual hope, encouragement, and understanding.

Our NAMI Family Support Group is for families and caregivers of individuals with a mental illness and is facilitated by trained NAMI Long Beach members. The meeting is open forum where families and caregivers can share their experiences and challenges and help one another through learned wisdom. Our group is intended for family members, partners and friends of individuals living with a mental illness.

NAMI FaithNet is an interfaith resource network of NAMI members, friends, clergy and congregations of all faith traditions who wish to encourage faith communities who are welcoming and supportive of persons and families living with a mental illness. NAMI FaithNet strives to encourage welcoming, caring congregations as well as promote the vital role of spirituality in the recovery journeys of many who live with mental health conditions, those for whom faith is a key component.
