NAMI Presentations are unique and impactful public education programs which help to dispel myths about mental illness. Audiences benefit from this type of presentation because they learn, first hand, what it means to have a serious mental illness and how the recovery process works.
Please review the presentations that NAMI Long Beach Area currently has available and determine the best fit for you and your organization.
NAMI In our Own Voice is a presentation for the general public to promote awareness of mental illness and the possibility of recovery. This program is also available in Spanish as "Nuestra Propia Voz".

NAMI Parents & Teachers as Allies is a presentation for teachers, parents and other school personnel to raise their awareness about mental illness and help them recognize the early warning signs and the importance of early intervention. NAMI parents and teachers as allies (PTA) opens the door for schools to make a difference.
If so, we invite you to join NAMI Long Beach Area’s Ending the Silence Team and be a presenter that travels to community middle or high schools!
NAMI Ending the Silence is a 50-minute in-service presentation for youth. If you have the desire to talk with youth and encourage good mental health and explain about mental illnesses, we should talk!
Training for the presentation is included, it’s easy and it’s rewarding.
Here's what Jenny Compton, NAMI volunteer, had to say after viewing an Ending the Silence presentation:
“I really enjoyed the Ending the Silence presentation and I am so impressed by how well the presenters did. I feel like the Presenters really spoke to the students on their level, and succeeded to normalize this very misunderstood topic. Both Presenters shared their personal stories and struggles with mental illness so well, the students instantly felt at ease. It was great. The mental illness material was so clear-cut and understandable. This program would have helped me to feel less awkward and I bet I would have sought help a lot earlier. Thank you!"
