NAMI Long Beach Area’s membership, outreach, and signature programming reflects our richly diverse, multi-cultural region. Although stigma is a barrier for all individuals with mental illness, our local programming is sensitive to the unique communities of the Long Beach area that we serve. We have solidified our chapter goals around outreach to youth, young adults, and adults who are affected by mental illness, as well as those who care for them, engagement of difficult-to-reach individuals, members of the military and their families, typically under-served communities, and persons affected by adverse socioeconomic conditions due to poverty, racism, and violence.
For over 14 years, through local grassroots volunteerism and awareness-building capabilities, NAMI Long Beach Area has delivered mental health awareness training. Through our signature programming offerings, NAMI Long Beach offers support and education programs for families and individuals living with mental health conditions. With the unique understanding of people with lived experience, these programs and support groups provide outstanding free education, skills training and support.
