NAMI Long Beach Area General Meetings are open to ALL -- members and non-members alike.
Topic: Coping in Unprecedented Times
Featuring: Sarah Bowling, MS, AMFT and Ilene Gonzalez, AMFT
We will be presenting on "Coping in Unprecedented Times" which discusses how current events, such as COVID-19, impact trauma survivors and strategies on how to manage stress reactions to triggering events or transitions.
About Sarah Bowling, MS, AMFT:
Sarah Bowling is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist providing services at the Long Beach Trauma Recovery Center. Her current roles there include mental health clinician, outreach coordinator, and waitlist manager. Sarah has worked with the trauma population for three years and plans to continue to specialize in trauma-treatment with a focus on sexual trauma survivors. Her passions for this work include guiding survivors to a place of acceptance and empowerment, as well as, making trauma-care accessible to all. Sarah obtained her Master's in Counseling, Bachelor's in Psychology, and Minor in Child Development and Family Studies from California State University, Long Beach. For self-care, Sarah enjoys attending concerts, spending time with her loved ones, and traveling.
About Ilene Gonzalez, AMFT:
Ilene Gonzalez is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in Long Beach, California. She received her Master's in Counseling from California State University, Long Beach and her Bachelor's in Women and Gender Studies from San Francisco State University. Ilene has previously held the position of Autism Services Coordinator at CSULB and is currently enjoying working with trauma survivors at the Long Beach Trauma Recovery Center. She is passionate about assisting people in their healing from traumatic incidents, de-stigmatizing mental health and disabilities, and practicing through an intersectional lens. When she is not working, Ilene enjoys spending time hanging out with her dog, watching the Food Network, or being outdoors.
